Implemented Programs in Schools

The "ZenDen"

I developed a wellness room that I like to call the "ZenDen". It provides a safe calming space on campus for students; especially those in crisis. It consists of comfort items such as warm/soft blankets, a large bean bag chair and fairy lights. It also displays encouraging messages of positivity through out the room.

"Take What You Need" Shelf

In the ZenDen, I created a "Take What You Need Shelf". With donations from the community and myself, we were able to provide low income students with access to care and hygienic items. The Art students worked together to create a sign for the Shelf which is displayed here.

Course Catalog

In an effort to assist families with course selections I curated and implemented a course catalog for Manhattan Beach Middle School. In order to do so I collaborated with admin and teachers to determine what classes would be available as well as how they would like their courses described. I then used Canva to create and share this catalog.

Swell Club

I developed a Swell club that met weekly during lunch and focused on promoting self love and positive friendships. We made vision boards, designed positive affirmation posters to hang around the school, rewrote negative thoughts through games and discussed different coping skills.

In-School Tutoring

I created an in-school tutoring program that matched National Honor Society students with middle school students facing multiple failures. To do so, I went through the multiple failure list and found which courses students were failing. I then searched each student's schedule to find when they had a free period. I repeated this with the National Honor Society tutor list to see what subjects each student felt comfortable teaching and what periods they had available. From this, I curated a list of pairs and contacted both parties to meet and create a study schedule together.
